What it is
Perfect Landing is a distance game. The plane flies forward on its own; you move it left and right, collect coins and try to get further than you did last time.
Everything that is not the plane is an obstacle. Windmills, in particular, turn and have to be read rather than reacted to.
How it plays
A run lasts from a few seconds to a couple of minutes and ends the moment you hit something. Coins gathered along the way are spent between runs on a sturdier or faster plane.
The score is distance. Upgrades shift the ceiling rather than removing the obstacles, so the game stays a game of reading the gap.
Controls
Swipe left or right on a touch screen; the arrow keys or the mouse do the same on a computer. There is no throttle and no brake.
What to do first
- Spend the first few runs learning the windmill timing rather than chasing coins.
- Buy the handling upgrade before the speed upgrade — speed shortens your reaction window.
- Take the coin line only when it does not cross an obstacle; a run ended early is worth fewer coins than a cautious long one.
Where it trips people up
- Coins are placed deliberately close to obstacles. Some of them are a trap and are meant to be left.
- The plane keeps its momentum for a moment after you stop steering, which catches people out at higher speeds.
Editorial verdict
Distance is the whole objective. Windmills are the main objection.
