Behind the index: an editorial desk

Brexmorviace is an independent reference to a small set of games that run on Poki. We describe them; we do not host, run or sell any game.

What this site is

Brexmorviace is a timetable of written guides to browser games. Six games are in the current edition; each one gets a single route page, numbered from BX 101. The layout is borrowed from a printed departures board on purpose: one row per game, one guide per row, and the same columns for everyone so that two games can be compared without reading two essays.

No game runs on this site. There is no player, no embed and no download. When you have read a guide, the game itself is one search away on Poki.

How a game is checked

Every entry in the index was opened and played by a member of the editorial team before it was written up, and then re-opened against its Poki page before publication. The date of that second check is printed at the top of each guide and in the band under the masthead.

A check covers four things: that the game still loads in a current browser, that the control scheme described still matches what the game does, that the devices listed still work, and that the description of a session — a run, a level, a match, an open-ended farm — is still accurate.

  • We play on a desktop browser and on at least one touch device.
  • We do not rely on a publisher's own description of a game.
  • Where a game changed between editions, the guide is rewritten rather than patched.

What the columns mean

Genre is our reading of the game, not a store category. Devices lists what we have played it on. Input describes the controls you actually use, in the order you use them. Session is the shape of a sitting — whether the game ends by itself, runs to a score, or carries on until you stop.

None of the columns carries a rating. The editorial remarks on the front page are the only place where the team gives an opinion, and they are labelled as opinion.

Independence

Brexmorviace is not affiliated with Poki or with any of the studios that made the games in this index. We are not paid to include a game, we do not accept payment for a place in the index, and no entry is sponsored. The order of the index is the order the guides were written in.

How corrections are handled

If a fact in a guide is wrong or has gone out of date, write to support@brexmorviace.com with the guide number and the line in question. The process from there is fixed:

  • We re-open the game and check the claim ourselves.
  • If the claim is wrong, the line is corrected and the checked-on date at the top of the guide is moved forward.
  • If a whole section no longer describes the game, the section is rewritten rather than edited in place.
  • We reply to the person who reported it either way, including when we decide the original line was right.

Corrections are not tracked publicly per line; the checked-on date is the record.
