What it is
Blast Buddies drops you into a small arena with other players and a set of weapons that take the map apart as much as they take opponents apart. Cover is temporary by design.
It is the only entry in this index that requires other people and a live connection. Matches are short and are joined from a lobby rather than started alone.
How it plays
Matches run to a score or a timer, both measured in a few minutes. You pick a loadout in the lobby and keep it for the duration.
Both free-for-all and team modes are available. Teams reward holding a position; free-for-all rewards moving constantly.
Controls
Keyboard and mouse: WASD to move, mouse to aim and fire. On a phone or tablet the same controls appear as a pair of on-screen sticks.
Latency matters more than input here. A wired connection is worth more than any loadout choice.
What to do first
- Play two or three matches with the default loadout before you change anything.
- Shoot the walls. Opening a line of sight is often better than finding one.
- In team modes, stay within sight of one teammate; the maps are small enough that this is always possible.
Where it trips people up
- Standing behind cover is a short-term plan — every surface in the arena can be removed.
- The loadout cannot be changed mid-match, so a choice made carelessly in the lobby lasts the whole game.
Editorial verdict
The only game here with other people in it. Choose the loadout before the match; there is no time during it.
